Finding Books to Take Home
Search the library catalog for circulating books about your topic. Try searching for books about your author or art from a particular country or time period and then use the index of the book to see if your art work is discussed in that book.
If the library does not own a specific title you are interested in, use the ILLiad inter-library loan service to request the book from another library. This service is offered free of charge to all current students and faculty members.

General Art Reference Books
Reference books will provide brief explanations about artists or their works, like an encyclopedia or dictionary. These books are used only in the library, with black and white photocopiers available for student use.
Starting with a reference book is a great idea because you will have access to background information about your artist or work of art. Knowing about the time period, country, or medium can help you find more detailed books that you can take home with you.
